Sponsor Agency

State of Alaska

Estimated Cost

$1,252,000

Funds on hand

$0

Additional funds required

$1,252,000

Project scope

This project will add a turn lane on the Seward Highway at the entrance to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center. Realigning the intersection of the road that goes back to the park with the highway will also be evaluated.

Project need

The entrance to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center is on a curve of the Seward Highway where the speed limit is 55 mph. The limited visibility and frequent weather-induced slippery road surface contribute to safety concerns at this intersection.

Project status

This project has not started. This is a state-owned facility and evaluation and future funding would be by the State of Alaska. The project scope may be included in the bridge rehab project from Mile 75-90.
