Project scope

While the scope has not been set, urban collector standards typically include a new road base, curbs, pavement, pedestrian facilities, storm drains, and street lighting.

Project need

This road has never been constructed to urban collector standards. There are safety issues with this section of the Old Seward Highway as there is strong recreational use but a narrow road with no shoulders and no pedestrian facilities.

Project status

No work is underway or scheduled in the six-year Capital Improvement Program. This is a state-owned facility and evaluation and funding would be by the State of Alaska. This route is designated as a collector in the Official Streets and Highways Plan (OS&HP).
