The $1 million state grant in FY14 for pedestrian lighting has resulted in far less lighting than the community anticipated when requesting the funding amount. State Representatives, Senators, and assemblypersons have been actively involved in this project since grant award. Design and engineering costs have consumed a significant portion of this grant award--which continues previous phases of lighting in the MVCC area. PM&E in 2015 provided the estimate of $2 million additional needed to complete this project to the standard established by previous phases of pedestrian lighting. Previous phases can be viewed on Mountain View Drive from Glenn Highway to Taylor Street. This safety improvement project remains a high priority for the MVCC.
